Frequently asked questions

Trial, billing, IPs, MT4 and MT5, brokers, compatibility and AI agents.

Free trial

How does the free trial work?

Signing up is free. New customers get a 7-day free trial when they subscribe. Starting the trial needs a card at checkout. Nothing is charged during the trial unless you upgrade. The first charge is when the trial ends after 7 days, or when you upgrade, if that is sooner. To stop before then, cancel your subscription on the Billing page of your dashboard.

The trial is one account on a shared address. For more accounts or your own address, upgrade on the Billing page: you choose how many, pay first, and your month starts that day. There is one free trial per customer.

Do I need a live trading account to try Tickwire?

No. The sandbox needs no broker account at all. When you connect one, which account is up to you: a demo, a small funded account or a live one.

Billing and plans

When do I start paying, and is there a minimum?

Signing up is free. Subscribing starts a 7-day free trial. It needs a card at checkout, and the first charge is when the trial ends. While your subscription is active, the minimum is one account ($12 a month on a shared address, or $14 with an own address), even if all your accounts are parked or removed.

How do I stop paying?

Cancel your subscription on the Billing page of your dashboard. You aren't charged again. Your accounts keep running until the end of the free trial or the period you've paid for, then they're parked. Changed your mind? Until then, choose Resume subscription on the same page. Parking or removing accounts alone doesn't stop the subscription: the one-account minimum still applies.

Which plan do I need?

You don't choose. We bill whichever plan is cheapest for the accounts you run: Starter at $12 per account on a shared address, or $14 with an own address, Pro at $649 with 60 accounts (then $11 each), or Premium at $1,099 with 110 accounts (then $9 each). Pro becomes the cheapest at 55 accounts on a shared address, or at 47 with an own address, and Premium at 101. Pro and Premium include the addresses those accounts need. Every plan has every feature.

What happens when I add or remove an account?

A new account is charged straight away, pro rata for the rest of the month. A parked or deleted account stops counting from your next renewal, with no mid-month credit; accounts you've paid for stay usable until then. While you're subscribed, at least one account is billed.

What if a payment fails?

Your accounts keep running for 3 days. After that they're parked (undeployed), never deleted, and come back when the payment goes through.

Who charges my card?

Our payment provider, which acts as merchant of record. It runs the card checkout and charges your card. Prices are in US dollars, before any tax. On the Billing page of your dashboard you can replace your card or cancel your subscription.

Own address

Do I need an own address?

Only if a prop firm or broker whitelists an IP, or you want your traffic separate. Without one, accounts go out through a shared address. Choose an own address and no other customer uses it while you hold it.

What does an own address cost?

$14 an account, for every account. Starter on a shared address is $12 an account. Pro and Premium include the addresses those accounts need. The trial stays on a shared address.

Is my address ever given to someone else?

No. No other customer uses it while you hold it. We never pool or reuse an address: once you release one, nobody else gets it. If your accounts are parked we hold it for 30 days first.

MT4 and MT5

Is the API different for MT4 and MT5?

No. Both platforms sit behind one API with the same shapes.

What can't MT4 do?

MT4 has no market depth, tick history or stop-limit orders. Those calls return the error not_supported_on_mt4. Call /capabilities to see what an account supports.

Is it a real terminal?

Yes. Every account runs in its own real MetaTrader terminal, with its own device fingerprint. We judge health by whether real work succeeds (the broker link, account reads, prices moving), so a terminal that has stopped working doesn't show as connected, and a missing check shows as unknown.

Brokers

Which brokers are supported?

Tickwire is broker-agnostic: any MT4 or MT5 broker works, with no per-broker setup. You give the server name shown in the terminal's login dialog.

Is broker server time converted to UTC?

Tickwire detects each broker's offset and labels broker time as broker time, not UTC.

Compatibility

Can I move from another provider's /users/current REST API?

Yes. The /users/current/accounts/… REST endpoints keep their paths, field names and trade return codes, so code written against those endpoints needs a new base URL and key. Use the REST endpoints directly or the Tickwire SDKs. See switching from another provider.

Can I move a client that uses the /v1 and terminal routes?

Yes: change the base URL and the key. The /v1 API, terminal routes, WebSocket topics and batch order endpoints keep their names and shapes. See switching from another provider.

AI agents

Can an AI agent trade through Tickwire?

Yes. AI apps such as Claude and ChatGPT connect to the Tickwire MCP server (see AI agents), and your own code can call the REST API with a scoped or read-only key. Agent keys, kill switches and pre-trade decision hooks are available in the dashboard under AI agents and via the API.

Does Tickwire decide whether a trade is a good idea?

No. Tickwire decides whether a caller is allowed to trade, sends the order once, and reports what happened. Trading rules such as size or loss limits belong in your own code or risk service plugged into Tickwire's pre-trade decision hook. Tickwire gives no investment advice.

Can I connect Claude, ChatGPT or other AI apps by signing in?

Yes. Add the Tickwire MCP server's address in the app, sign in with Tickwire, and pick which accounts it may use and whether it may trade. The AI agents page has the steps for Claude and ChatGPT. Developer tools can send an agent key instead.

What stops an agent from placing the same order twice?

Send an idempotency key with each trading call (our MCP tools add one if the agent doesn't). Send the same call again with the same key and you get the first result back, not a second order. If we can't confirm an order, the answer is unknown, and the agent should check before trying again.
