MT4 error 7: Not enough rights (ERR_NOT_ENOUGH_RIGHTS)
The account isn't allowed to do this, often because it is signed in with the investor (read only) password. Nothing was executed.
What it means
You see this code in GetLastError() in MQL4, after a trade function fails on the server side.
The server says this login doesn't have the right to trade, or to do this kind of trade.
The most common case is an investor password, which lets you watch the account but not trade it.
Common causes
- A login with the investor password instead of the main one.
- An account limited by the broker.
- A symbol this account group can't trade.
How to fix it
- Sign in with the main (trading) password.
- Ask the broker whether the account and symbol allow trading.
Example in MQL4:
if(!IsTradeAllowed())
Print("Trading isn't allowed right now: check the password type and the terminal settings"); Is it safe to retry?
No, not with this login.
Could the order have executed?
No. The login has no right to trade, so the request was refused.
How Tickwire handles it
Tickwire treats it like MT5 10017, and the MT4 code stays in the message.
Health shows trading_enabled false for an investor login, so you can see it before an order fails. See health.
