MT4 error 133: Trade is disabled (ERR_TRADE_DISABLED)
Trading is switched off for this symbol or account. Nothing was executed; retrying won't help until the broker changes it.
What it means
You see this code in GetLastError() in MQL4, after a trade function fails on the server side.
The broker has disabled trading, either on the symbol or for the account.
It is a setting, not a passing market state. Error 132 means the market is closed for now; 133 means trading is off whatever the time.
Common causes
- A symbol offered for viewing only.
- A symbol being removed or rolled over.
- A read only login or a restricted account.
How to fix it
- Check
MarketInfo(sym, MODE_TRADEALLOWED). - Ask the broker whether the symbol should be tradable on your account.
- Take the symbol off your trading list until the broker turns it back on.
Example in MQL4:
string sym = "US30";
if(MarketInfo(sym, MODE_TRADEALLOWED) == 0)
Print(sym, ": trading is disabled for this account"); Is it safe to retry?
No. Trading stays off for this symbol or account until the broker turns it on.
Could the order have executed?
No. The server refused it because trading is disabled.
How Tickwire handles it
Tickwire treats it like MT5 10017, and the MT4 code stays in the message. See trade results.
