MT4 error 64: Account disabled (ERR_ACCOUNT_DISABLED)
The broker has disabled this trading account. Nothing was executed, and code can't fix it; contact the broker.
What it means
You see this code in GetLastError() in MQL4, after a trade function fails on the server side.
The account exists but the broker has switched it off for trading.
All trade requests fail until the broker turns it back on.
It is a state of the account on the broker's side. No change to your program or terminal settings will clear it.
Common causes
- An account closed or suspended by the broker.
- A practice account that expired after a period of no use.
- A compliance or document check on the account.
How to fix it
- Stop sending orders, so you don't flood the server.
- Look for a notice about the account in the broker's emails or client area.
- Contact the broker, or open a new account.
Example in MQL4:
int ticket = OrderSend(Symbol(), OP_BUY, 0.10, Ask, 3, 0, 0);
if(ticket < 0 && GetLastError() == ERR_ACCOUNT_DISABLED)
{
Alert("Account ", AccountNumber(), " is disabled by the broker");
ExpertRemove(); // stop this program instead of retrying
} Is it safe to retry?
No. Every request fails until the broker enables the account again.
Could the order have executed?
No. A disabled account can't trade.
How Tickwire handles it
Tickwire treats it like MT5 10017, and the MT4 code stays in the message. See trade results.
