MT4 error 141: Too many requests (ERR_TOO_MANY_REQUESTS)
The terminal sent more requests than the broker allows in a short time. This one was refused; slow down.
What it means
You see this code in GetLastError() in MQL4, after a trade function fails on the server side.
Similar to error 8: too many requests in a short time. The server refused this one without processing it.
Common causes
- A retry loop without pauses.
- Many orders or modifications at once.
- Several programs on one account.
How to fix it
- Wait between requests and back off after failures.
- Group work so you send fewer requests.
Example in MQL4:
for(int i = OrdersTotal() - 1; i >= 0; i--)
{
if(!OrderSelect(i, SELECT_BY_POS, MODE_TRADES)) continue;
bool ok = true;
if(OrderType() == OP_BUY) ok = OrderClose(OrderTicket(), OrderLots(), Bid, 3);
if(OrderType() == OP_SELL) ok = OrderClose(OrderTicket(), OrderLots(), Ask, 3);
if(!ok) Print("close failed, error ", GetLastError());
Sleep(300); // give the server room between requests
RefreshRates();
} Is it safe to retry?
Yes, after a pause.
Could the order have executed?
No. The server refused the request for exceeding its rate.
How Tickwire handles it
Tickwire treats it like MT5 10024, and the MT4 code stays in the message.
Tickwire reports it as 10024 with nothing sent. Tickwire's own rate limits answer HTTP 429 with sent: false. See rate limits.
