# quote_stale

> A market order was refused before sending because its symbol's quote is not moving.

HTTP 409. Nothing reached the broker.

**Likely causes:**

- No Market Watch price has moved for 30 s (health is degraded, prices_stale): the market is likely closed, or the broker's feed paused.
- This symbol's price has not changed for 5 minutes while the terminal watched it.
- The symbol's quote is days old: a cached quote, not a live one.

**What to do:** Nothing was sent. Retry when prices move (the same Idempotency-Key is fine), or set allowStaleQuote: true to send it anyway. Closes and pending orders are never refused for this.

**Retry:** Yes. Nothing happened (or it was a read), so repeat it, after `Retry-After` when present.
